The Rev. Barrie Morley

Born soon after WW11 in Mansfield. Worked for a short time for a small engineering company whose products included 'Airchimes'  i.e. hooters and horns for diesel engines and tug boats, so that our works could sound like Mersey Docks even though we were situated 90 miles from the sea! Then like many others in that part of Notts, I went to work for the National Coal Board before leaving for Manchester to train for Ministry of the Methodist Church.

When asked what kind of area I wanted to work in for my first post I answered  'Not coal mines because I have been around them all my life.'  SO...where did they send me? To the Durham coal fields where as Chaplain I used to travel five miles under the North Sea to the coal face.

Other places of work have been in small market towns and large urban estates and two prisons before coming to Sherburn and surrounding villages.

Hobbies include watching Cricket..supporting Nottm Forest F.C.,  going to Theatre and Concerts and bird watching and walks or bike rides by sea and in countryside.     Married to Joan with two sons and two baby grandaughters.
