Stephen Jenson
..............................................
Stephen is a Pickering born and bred Town Councillor and community activist, who has always had a strong connection to his home town and a passion for its development as a tourist destination. His interests are diverse, varying from being an active member of Ryedale Family History group and Pickering Civic Society to being part of Pickering’s active and vocal flood campaign group.
Stephen was born in Pickering, trained in Darlington and spent 25 years there as a gents hairdresser, before returning back to Ryedale, living here for 45 years with his wife Christine. As well as being active in the community, he was also a keen cyclist in his youth, and later an enthusiastic walker, until a heart condition forced him into some well earned rest.
This has not dulled his passion for activism, as he is a volunteer and member of Next Steps, a local mental health charity, and a steward at Beck Isle museum, which allows him to further pursue a keen interest in the preservation and promotion of Pickering.
